Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 2.85 g, 8 h), a contemporary plated imitation, after 15 BC. DIVI F AVGVSTVS Bare head of Augustus to right. Rev. [IMP•X] Augustus seated left on curule chair set on daïs, extending his right hand toward two soldiers, each carrying parazonium and presenting laurel branches. Cf. BMC 445, Cohen 133 and RIC 165a (for prototype). Struck somewhat off center and with minor breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
